| The Beginning... On March 24, 1959, a group of employees of the Cheektowaga Central School District assembled at the home of Bob Criden, music teacher, for the purpose of organizing a credit union. Under the guidance of Marty Stern, NYS Credit Union League consultant, the group filed for approval of a federal charter. The subscribers to the organization were: Rosalie Turton, Robert Criden, Patrick Hartnett, Lawrence Whelan, Ruth Peters, Amelia Busch, William Fischer, and Donald Moyce. Approval of the organization was granted and a charter was issued on April 2, 1959. On July 1, 1959, the books of the credit union were opened, and the first deposits were received.
